Athletic Training Student Aide Program

An integral component of the Sports Medicine Team is our athletic training student aide program. The Athletic Training Student Aide Program is a service-oriented program comprised of dedicated high school students focused on the goal to support the needs of our student-athletes and their coaches.

Goals

► To serve, support and meet the needs of our student-athletes and their coaches

► To be helpful, prepared and knowledgeable for any emergencies that arise

► To be alert and vigilant during all games

► To maintain a positive and helpful attitude at all times

► To be flexible and able to process changes as they occur

► To act as a host to other teams – at home or away

Each athletic training student aide participant has unique abilities and talents already that contribute in their success within the program. The high school students are challenged with new experiences and exposed to vast amounts of information that are forming new skills during the time spent within the program. High school students entering the program are required to attend a summer sports medicine curriculum every year. The program has grown with the school, averaging close to 40 students being involved a year. Several students have graduated from the program over the years and have been awarded scholarships. Many graduates are currently working toward degrees in athletic training at accredited programs. Several others are pursuing degrees in health care profession such as pre-med, physician assistant, physical therapy and nursing.
